Welcome to the Land of the Thunder Dragon! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, your guide will greet you with warm Bhutanese hospitality. From here, enjoy a scenic drive to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu (60km, about 45 minutes). Check into your cozy hotel and unwind. Depending on your flight arrival time, we’ll either kickstart sightseeing today or settle in for a relaxing evening with a delicious dinner. Rest up, as the adventure begins tomorrow!

Day 2: Exploring Thimphu – The Cultural Heart of Bhutan
After breakfast, dive into Bhutan’s rich heritage! Begin at Kuenselphodrang, where the world’s largest seated Buddha, Buddha Dordenma, towers over the valley. Next, immerse yourself in local traditions with visits to the Traditional Arts and Crafts School, the Textile Museum, and a handmade paper factory. Get up close to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin, at the Takin Zoo. End the day with a visit to Tashichhodzong, the stunning administrative fortress housing the Golden Throne of the King. In the evening, wander through the craft bazaar for unique finds.

Day 3: Dochu La Pass & Punakha – A Journey Through the Clouds
Today, journey through winding mountain roads to Punakha (86km, about 2 hours). Along the way, pause at the breathtaking Dochu La Pass (3,088m/10,130ft), where colorful prayer flags flutter against a backdrop of Himalayan peaks. On arrival in Punakha, explore the historic Punakha Dzong, a magnificent fortress where Bhutanese kings have tied the knot. Afterward, check into your hotel and soak in the serene atmosphere of the valley.

Day 4: Active Adventures in Punakha
Start your morning with a choice of activities! Walk through verdant rice fields to the striking Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, perched high above the valley, or opt for an exhilarating white-water rafting experience on the Mo Chhu River (rafting costs $100 per boat, max 6 adults). Feeling adventurous? Do both! In the afternoon, explore the local town or visit a nearby farm to immerse yourself in rural Bhutanese life.

Day 5: Temple of Fertility & Journey to Paro
Today, visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famed Temple of Fertility, before retracing your route back to Thimphu for lunch. Continue onward to Paro, where your first stop is Rinpung Dzong, a fortress housing government offices and a monastic body. Check into your hotel and relax, with the promise of more wonders tomorrow.

Day 6: The Iconic Tiger’s Nest Hike
Rise early for the highlight of your Bhutan journey—the hike to Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest. This 2.5-hour uphill trek offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual essence. Not up for the full hike? Enjoy stunning vistas from the halfway point, where lunch will be served. Horses are available to assist with the climb to the halfway cafe. After the hike, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. Wrap up the day with free time to shop or pack before a memorable farewell dinner.
